Adding an armband to your "web only" account

If you are new to bodybugg and you are currently signed up for a web only program, but you have a pre-owned armband you’d like to use, you should have selected “I have an armband” during the purchase/enrollment process. If you did not select “I have an armband” at that time, you can go to the My Info tab in your bodybugg program and click on the Register Armband button.

If you have been using the web only program and decide to upgrade your bodybugg armband, please contact your bodybugg trainer or coach and ask them to “add an armband” to your account. You may also call Technical Support at 866-314-9423 for assistance.

Turning your armband on/off

The armband does not have an "ON" button. Simply slide it onto the back of your upper arm, and it will turn on automatically within 1 to 10 minutes. The armband will chime when it turns on and will vibrate gently. To turn it "OFF", simply slide it off your arm. After a few seconds, you will hear the armband shut down.

  1. To determine whether the gray bodybugg armband is ON and monitoring your physiological factors, simply press the button located on the front of the armband. When pressed, you should feel a slight vibration and hear an "A-OK" sound. This means that the armband is working properly. If you do not receive this feedback, the armband is not working properly. If this is the case, please see the troubleshooting section.
  2. To determine whether the black bodybugg armband v3 is ON and monitoring your physiological factors, simply press the button located on the front of the armband. When pressed, you should hear an "A-OK" sound. This means that the armband is working properly. If you do not receive this feedback, the armband is not working properly. If this is the case, please see the troubleshooting section.
  3. NOTE: The black bodybugg armband has no vibration feedback.

Battery

The gray bodybugg armband is powered by one AAA battery. During continuous use (24/7), it will last approximately 10 days with 18 hours a day of it being on body before needing to be replaced.

The black bodybugg armband is powered by an internal lithium polymer cell battery. The black Armband battery will last approximately 5-7 days with 18 hours a day of it being on body before the internal lithium battery requires recharging.

To check the status of the battery, remove the armband and press the armband button (the large button on the top exterior face of the armband). The light above the word "battery" will turn on as follows:

  • Green (solid) = More than 24 hours of battery life remain.
  • Amber (pulsing) = Less than 24 hours of battery life remain.
  • Red (flashing) = The Armband will not collect data. Change the battery before continuing use.

In addition to the battery status light on the armband, you can also view how much battery life is left every time you upload your data. The available battery life is displayed below the upload status bar when uploading data from the armband.

Replacing the battery bodybugg armband

To replace the battery in the gray bodybugg armband,1 lift and rotate the top hatch counterclockwise. Remove the drained AAA battery and replace it with a new AAA battery immediately.

NOTE: Once you remove the AAA battery, you have 30 seconds to replace it with the new one. Failure to do so may lead to loss of data in the armband.

CAUTION:

The AAA batteries may explode or leak and can cause burn injuries if recharged, disposed of in fire, or disassembled.

Do not remove the battery label in the bodybugg armband.

Dispose of properly. For further information about the disposal of the battery, please follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Batteries may present a choking hazard for small children.

Recharging the battery in the black bodybugg armband

  • To charge the battery in the black bodybugg armband, remove the wing/strap assembly from the monitor unit. Plug the USB cord into the PC and the Armband and the battery will begin charging. The battery charges via the USB cable from dead to full capacity in approximately 3 hours.

WARNING: NEVER CHARGE THE AAA BATTERY IN THE gray bodybugg armband! DOING SO MAY CAUSE SERIOUS BODILY HARM!

Memory

  1. The gray bodybugg armband has the ability to collect up to 14 days with 18 hours a day on body of data collection with continuous use.
  2. The black bodybugg armband has the ability to collect up to 28 days with 18 hours a day on body of data collection with continuous use.

To check the memory status, remove the armband and press the armband button. The light above the word "memory" will turn on as follows:

  • Green (solid) = More than 24 hours memory remain.
  • Amber (pulsing) = Less than 24 hours of memory life remain.
  • Red (flashing) = The armband will not collect data. Upload your data before continuing use.

Wearing your armband

  1. The gray bodybugg armband is designed to be worn on the back of the upper right arm (tricep area), touching the skin.
  2. The black bodybugg armband is designed to be worn on the back of the upper left arm (tricep area), touching the skin.

Make sure that your upper right arm is clean and dry. You should not wear any lotion or body oil where the armband will come in contact with your skin.

Slide the armband onto the back of your upper arm with the bodybugg armband logo facing up.

Adjust the strap so that it fits on your arm comfortably, then secure the Velcro tab. Flex your arm a few times to make sure that the strap is neither too tight nor too loose. It should be snug, but comfortable. Once the strap is adjusted to a comfortable tension, you are ready to wear it. You should not need to adjust the strap again in the future. Just slide it on and off.

CAUTION: Be careful not to over-tighten the armband. If, at any time, you feel constriction or loss of circulation, simply loosen the adjustable strap and re-fasten it to a more comfortable setting.

Changing the elastic strap on the gray bodybugg armband

Start with the monitor on its "back" with the label text facing up. Spread out the strap with the Velcro pieces facing up.

  1. Weave the straight edge of the strap from right to left through the right strap slot.
  2. Bring the two round Velcro pieces together and pinch firmly so they hold tight.
  3. Weave the tab through the left strap slot.
  4. Fold the tab over and secure it against strap.
  5. Slide the armband on and adjust the tab to a snug but comfortable fit. After achieving a comfortable fit, you should be able to slide the armband on and off without further adjustment to the strap.

Changing the elastic strap on the black bodybugg armband

  1. Start with the monitor on its “back”, label text facing up.
  2. Detach the wing assembly on the right side.
  3. Attach the new wing assembly by snapping onto the right side.
  4. Fold the plastic tab over and secure it against the strap.
  5. Slide the Armband on and adjust the strap to a snug, comfortable fit. After achieving a comfortable fit, the Armband should be able to be slid on and off without further adjustment to the strap.

CAUTION: Be sure that the velcro (beneath the end pull tab) is properly aligned. Improper alignment of the velcro can cause irritation or an abrasion of the skin.

Understanding armband feedback

Neither the black or gray bodybuggs have an “ON” button. Simply slide the armband onto the back of the upper arm, and it will turn on automatically within 10 minutes.

NOTE: The black bodybugg armband has no vibration feedback.

Turning ON Sequence

Every time you slide your armband on, it will make a series of sounds and vibrations indicating when it has turned on. The sequence can best be described as 5 distinct notes (do-de-do-de deet) ascending in tone, accompanied by a 2 second vibration, followed by an "A-OK Sequence" of 3 more notes (de-de deet).

NOTE: The black bodybugg armband has no vibration feedback.

Turning OFF Sequence

Every time you slide your armband off, it will make a series of sounds and vibrations indicating when it has turned off. The sequence can best be described as 4 distinct notes descending in tone, (de-do-de doot) accompanied by a 2 second vibration.

NOTE: The black bodybugg armband has no vibration feedback.

A-OK Sequence

When you push the button on the armband and both your battery level and memory level are OK, it will play the "A-OK Sequence" which can best be described as a series of 3 notes, (de-de deet) the first two of which are the same note, followed by a third ascending note. This sequence of notes is also accompanied by a short vibration and both green lights will flash.

NOTE: The black bodybugg armband has no vibration feedback.

Low Sequence

When you push the button on the armband and the battery or available memory level is low, it will play the "Low Sequence" which can best be described as a series of 2 notes repeated 3 times in an alarm fashion (de-do de-do de-do). This sequence of notes is also accompanied by a short vibration and the battery and/or memory light will flash amber.

NOTE: The black bodybugg armband has no vibration feedback.

Very Low Sequence

When you push the button on the armband and the battery level is insufficient to power the device or the memory is full, it will play the "Very Low Sequence" which can best be described as a series of 2 notes repeated 6 times in an alarm fashion (de-do de-do de-do, de-do de-do de-do). Also, the battery and/or memory light will flash red.

NOTE: The black bodybugg armband has no vibration feedback.

Reminder Sequence 1

When reminder 1 plays at the time you specified, the armband will make a series of sounds that can best be described as 2 notes, repeated 3 times, like someone tapping you on the shoulder (de-deet, de-deet, de-deet). This sequence of notes is also accompanied by a short vibration.

NOTE: The black bodybugg armband has no vibration feedback.

Reminder Sequence 2

When reminder 2 plays at the time you specified, the armband will make a series of sounds that can best be described as 3 notes, repeated 3 times, like someone tapping you on the shoulder (de-de-deet, de-de-deet, de-de-deet). This sequence of notes is also accompanied by a short vibration.

NOTE: The black bodybugg armband has no vibration feedback.

Care and maintenance

Handling

Though the bodybugg armband was designed for wearability and long-term use, it is a sensitive monitoring device. Rough handling can break internal components. Never drop or shock the armband and always store it in a safe place when not in use.

Avoid exposing the armband to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, moisture, sand, dust, or mechanical shock.

To prevent possible damage to the cable, grasp the plug, not the cable, when disconnecting the USB. Replace the cable if it becomes frayed.

The armband is not designed to be used underwater or come in continuous contact with water. To prevent a shock hazard, never use the armband in wet environments (e.g., in the shower, swimming pool, or rain).

Maintenance

CAUTION: Do not attempt to open the Armband yourself. It contains no user-serviceable parts. Refer all servicing to qualified Service Personnel. Opening the Armband yourself will void the warranty.

Changes or modifications to this equipment not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

If an Armband is dropped, ensure that it is working properly and not physically damaged before relying on readings.

Cleaning

Clean and dry the armband after sweating or when it becomes noticeably moist or dirty. Failure to keep the armband clean, or improper cleaning, may irritate the skin and affect the sensor performance.

To clean: moisten a soft cloth or towel with mild soap and water. Wipe and dry the skin-touching side of the armband. Never use alcohol or solvents on the armband. The adjustable strap should be hand-washed with mild soap and warm water, then air-dried. Machine drying may affect the performance and lifespan of the strap.

Disinfecting

Wipe the entire armband with a soft dampened cloth with 70% isopropyl alcohol between users. DO NOT STERILIZE THIS UNIT.
